Hey gang,
I've recently found myself on the hunt for a new business partner (my last one got a new job and we just had a following out. It was pretty clear where his priorities were) for a mobile app business and I figured I might as well hit up you guys to get some guidance.
Since I've already made the mistake of working with someone clearly not on the fastlane path, what are your guidelines for selecting a business partner?
Here's where I stand so far:
Very detailed wire frames for the initial MVP of the project
A very skilled designer ready to do all the design work once I give him the green light
A detailed plan for the next 24 months or so of development and monetization (I've been working on the details for about a year. We actually had a team in India start development in June but they were awful and I had to fire them after 4 months of not delivering anything. My fault but a great learning lesson).
So, this isn't just a hack job idea. There's been a lot of thought and energy into this and I just need someone else to get on board with me.
You may wonder why I don't just hire someone myself and for me, the reality is that I just don't think this is a project that I can take on without a partner. I have some great ideas for the product but it really evolved when my former partner and I would brainstorm different ideas. Basically, I truly believe I need someone that's good at brainstorming for this to be successful.
Now, here's the type of person that I THINK I need to work with:
They should be a designer and have pretty decent tech knowledge. I understand technology but that's not my strong suit and I can't design worth a damn. Although I do know what I like.
They need to love mobile apps and have a great feel for UI. That's a focus of mine, making things insanely simple and easy to use.
They need to have some cash to invest. I truly feel that if you're going to go into business, you need to have some skin in the game and in my mind, cash is king.
That's my initial criteria.
Any input would be GREATLY appreciated!
Thanks!
