Last fall, I finally finished one of my info products. got ready to pull the trigger on launching only to realize the optimal launch time is early fall. So I now have time to launch and launch well.

A little info that I can divulge-

My price point is very low. sub $10 range due to my market research. Ok, since my profit margin is high, but limits jv and am options.

My product will need to be delivered USPS, so my profit is around $7 or so.

There is little to nothing proprietery about my product except that it is not currently being done. It is a bit in the novelty arena. I predict 3-5 year lifespan max, but that is more than enough time if I do it well. If it hits big, duplication by bigger names is easily accomplished, so I need to hit it hard right up front before they have time to see what hit them.

Do to the uniqueness, there is currently no search traffic for my product. I would be creating the demand. I am scratching a felt need that people are not aware is there. Like a dull headache. My challenge will be to convince them that my product is the answer to that need.

There are currently 2 related key words that I can pursue. One is dominated by the big players, and one I can conquer. The conquerable one has about 10k searches a month and the other has about 80k searches a month.

My initial plan is build out the site and make it live by june. Hit the SEO hard in July, and send out press releases in August. I will have two peak periods to capitalize for the first season, early fall and christmas.

Any advice? I know it is hard stabbing in the dark like this, but any thoughts would be appreciated.

One thought before I close, I had considered delivering via email and making it free to build my list, but the reality is at this point in my life I have proven inept at capitalizing on a list and the related income opportunities for a list of this niching would be limited based on my research. Not impossible, just does not seem like the best option for me for now.

Raise your price. Invite JV. Give 75% at least. Ignore SEO.

If you are launching in June, you need to SEO now. Is is a gadget? If so, hit the gadget sites and give them free ones for reviews.

No offense, but personally I find it hard to give an advise how to launch - sell a product if I don't know exactly what it does for customers

1) reach out to bloggers a) intro - let them know what you are working on b) launch date c) if they want a sample
2) write 20 guest posts about your product - find sites that would be interested in posting them
3) use seomoz tools to find who is linking to related products at a competitor - this will also help you find related sites
4) create a widget (creates backlinks now before the launch) that people can post on their site and if so get a free sample on launch day
5) find trade shows and talk with people to find if you need to fine tune your message/product/design
6) prepare graphical elements (magazine ads, banners for blogs or google)
7) determine follow up method (email list, facebook, twitter) for those that visit your site
8) are you going to have a referral or affiliate program? is your website the best distribution method - think big here, can you get in a major store or site to carry your item, can it be sold with an existing item?

Mr Pink has given SOLID advice there.

Beyond that I would be writing a blog around the basic topic/theme of your product NOW. Having a built in subscriber list via an RSS feed is always golden for launching something.

The old flow chart of launching a product was:

Find Niche - > Give them Free Info to Fix a Problem (could be site or blog) - >Build following (via auto responder or RSS) - > Offer product

WASH - RINSE - REPEAT

Launching products in an area where the demand doesn't exist yet is much harder. Facebook is an ok medium if you're an ad writing wizard and have some money to test on different demographics. Just be sure to keep your adgroups tight knit enough so you can see what is exactly working and what isn't.

Could also work with Adwords in the BIG TRAFFIC keyword arena to perfect your conversion process.

Getting in touch with bloggers who have a solid following though is also key. You can tap into their subscirbers that way.

I will refer to point numer 1 - about letting them know what are You working on.

If You go that way You might think about making a trailer do Your product. So, let it be 2 minutes long - those 2 minutes can buy You 2 hours of their life. The same as with normal trailers - they sell films as good as we know they sell.
