talk about fastlane...

this story sounds almost too good to be true but I did a basic background check and this woman does exist and her book(mentioned in the article below) does exist too.

How a homeless single mother became a millionaire in 18 months | Jet | Find Articles at BNET

on how she did it:

"I went to the library and punched in millionaire and I read every single book on biographies of millionaires, anything dealing with money, stocks, bonds, real estate, commodities trading, e-business, taxes, you name it."

the article is really short but you can always get the book too and find a few gems in there and tell us all about it. I might grab a copy actually even though it's designed for women. Forget that, I want to be a millionaire too.

Wow, amazing story! Perfect gift for my lady friend. Stories like this reminds me of the quote: "Some people see problems, while others see opportunity."

Good luck

I hope it inspires you..

I know what it's like to be homeless. I've been there. I didn't want to sleep on the streets so I'd stay up all night anywhere that I could.

Eventually, I had to swallow my pride and go live with family for a little while... it's sure as hell better as not having a place to sleep..... One of the smartest decisions of my life - going back to live with someone I trust until I got my feet on the ground again.

You're on the fastlane forum. That's a good sign. You can do it buddy. Don't give up on yourself just yet - get the book. You might really enjoy it. And find a place to stay!

The last thing I wanted to say to you is something I learned a long time ago. It's an old saying. I don't know who came up with it. But it goes something like this:

"This too shall pass"

It basically means whatever suffering you are going through right now, whether it's homelessness or anything else... it will pass. You will evolve and you will not be homeless forever.

Good luck my friend

great story! sounds so simple in paper. but you can definitely see some of the process she went through before becoming financially independent. 704 credit score and homeless, only in America.... outstanding!

I definitely have to pick up this book! I too was homeless before accepting my family's assistance and deciding to move back home.

This is definitely some motivation that I could use.

That is wonderful! I'm in the process of repairing mine now.

Nice little story - my favorite line was ~

This is a very remarkable story. It's true what they say that "only the STRONG survives". I always preach to my kids about having a backup plan and to always work hard. Laying down crying when you fall is too easy. But picking yourself up, dusting off and getting back in the fight takes works better. I will soon order this book.

So what's the story?
Wow, you dug up a 7 year old thread...

Found the article, though.
Read it here

tl;dr: Homeless woman with a 701 credit score and Master's Degree bought a house with $0 down (in 2001) and rented out room to roommates, then leveraged appreciation to build a sizable real estate portfolio.

Good to know that Horney Scott is NBA Coach of the Year. Also Hitch showing on ABC. I gotta catch that.
