I've been noticing a shift in California recently. The number of homeless is exponentially multiplying and I'm even starting to see Asian ones. You know things are bad when you start seeing homeless Asians begging for food.
How the hell are Asians going homeless?!
You can't even go out for a meal without someone walking up to your table and asking for some food now.
I’m looking at leaving CA.
The place is obviously being run into the ground on purpose. My guess is the purpose of all this is to create some “sell-out” opposition Government.
This is just my super uneducated observation but here it is: I spent almost 6 weeks in Florida, mostly in Miami, and recently arrived in LA for three nights (now heading to Las Vegas). My first experiences in LA were rather unpleasant, as mentioned in my other post. Miami felt better (I had no encounters with homeless people inside stores) though it also has many, many homeless people in a very bad shape.
Downtown LA feels rather rundown (and perhaps even very much so compared to downtown Miami) and other areas in the city itself are also full of the homeless. It literally doesn't matter where you go, turn your head around and there'll be at least one homeless person in sight and most likely multiple. Skid Row is obviously third world hell and that is f*cked up considering how close it is to the center of the city:

Even outside of the center, you always encounter homeless people. Hell, we went to a beach in Malibu and there was a homeless dude with a tent pitched right by the public toilet there. Then we went to get some falafel and there was a homeless dude eating there as well as they were giving out food for free (but he looked like just a really unlucky guy, not the drugged out type from downtown LA).
We later hung out in Venice Beach and the situation was much better. Still multiple homeless people at Venice Beach, many crazies dancing/tripping/talking to themselves/singing, but I didn't feel threatened. Meanwhile, driving through some areas in Miami, they straight up looked like Walking Dead rehearsals with zombie-like drug addicts everywhere.
Either way, comparing Miami and LA, I don't really see that big of a difference in how many homeless people there are there. Perhaps in Miami there are more cities/neighborhoods that are clean and homeless-free but when you enter an area where there are homeless, there are many of them, maybe even more than in Los Angeles. And Miami feels a little like a police state with how much police, security, and gated communities they have. And they still can't fix crime and homelessness there.
So I'm not sure if it's just a California problem. It looks like a US problem, or at least US big cities problem. It's very unfortunate, particularly considering how much wealth these cities attract, and yet despite that, how much poverty, homelessness, and desperation still exists there. I've never been to any city in the world that would have such stark contrasts as big US cities.
