Probably not going to be an issue for this event, but does anyone know when airlines start charging more for tickets as you get closer to your "fly date"?

I want to buy a plane ticket early to secure a cheap seat. Obviously I have to wait until we have a venue though.

Just curious if anyone has any idea or thoughts on when is the best time ( weeks or months out ) before the pricing goes up for most airlines.

How set are y'all on having it in Arizona?

It's really hard to beat Arizona in February.

For domestic flights, I find the dip in pricing occurs 45-30 days before your scheduled flight. Any sooner & you pay higher rates. International seems to be different.

Try Google Flights. It's awesome for flight search. You can see a graph of when the fares are lowest.

Would it help if someone touched base with them in person? I'm down that way often. I could always go and ask what's going on and try to get the ball rolling again.

6 weeks prior, book tickets late-Tuesday afternoon, private browsing, preferably from a PC not Mac

My plan was to secure the dates, then go down there in person for the tour/negotiations/contract stuff but we are not even getting that far.... unless you have connections down there... my connections stop at the IT dept & go no higher, unfortunately.... I'm all ears on ideas.

No, I have no connection. However, I find it difficult to understand why anyone would take the potential 50-100 guests lightly. Especially when majority of those guests plan on using their amenities/casino which adds more cash in their pocket.

So I figured going down in person to re-establish contact and to put a face to a name would maybe speed things up. The only other idea I have is to offer "earnest" money or to say screw em' an hold it elsewhere like you suggested. I'm going in order to meet you all so the where doesn't matter to me.

We're small potatoes for this venue. They're blowing us off in hopes of booking a larger revenue-generating event there.

I need to keep this in mind when working on this. Thanks for that.

@AlterJoule,

Nothing surprises me, anymore. Stupidity is damn near a badge of honor for some of these people. I'm all about calling up the GM of the property pulling their coattail and letting them know what's going on. If that fails, you have confirmation that the jack-assery starts at the top.

I'll meet under a street lamp. I don't give a deezy(damn).:)

Yeah, venue doesn't matter to me either. What a stupid attitude. They have no idea about the group attempting to pay them good money.. .. And probably will lose some future (potential) business over this

It is what it is. Let's not try to be something that we're not. I don't want to be treated as small potatoes. I had doubts about the suitability of this place from the beginning. We don't need a glamor venue that doesn't want us. We need a venue that wants our business.

Please don't let egos jeopardize this event.

Either one of the last two places would be just fine. Just fine is better than not happening.

It'll happen either way, whether its at @Red's house or a venue is what is up for decisions...

Can I suggest that we just move on? Just from what I've read on this thread (and I could be wrong), it seems like we're done with this place.

Pick 3 places that would be acceptable (including, as @jon.a suggests, the previous locations), make a firm decision that a place will be found no later than COB Friday or Saturday, and be done with it already. It seems (and of course I could be wrong) that the venue decision is holding up a bunch of other decisions.

FWIW, my Feb calendar is already filling up (it's the nature of my profession) so I need to know pretty soon!

Just my two cents.

I'd be happy if it was held in a falling down shack in the bad part of town. ;) I just want to meet you all, already!

Damn,

I'd really love to join this event, but it looks like I wont be able to...

My kickstarter got funded and Ill be busy at the manufacturers doing qc, and figuring out to how send things out.

To all new comers, there is no way I would've launched this successful Kickstarter without going to last years meet up.

It is a life changing event, the transition from an aspiring wantreprenuer to an action taking entrepreneur. Go if you can!!

I think Vegas solves the rooms problem ... hands down.

The town is overbuilt ... and a straight up bargain. As are flights in and out ...

And the place has meeting space available up the wazoo.

My two cents ...

One of my colleagues/friends books meeting space for a living via the conglomerate she works for, HelmsBriscoe. Never a cost to the customer, the hotels and venues pay her a fee. We've used her for events similar to this one in both size and scope. If the powers that be want to get her on it, message me and I'll forward you her information.

PS, she works quickly.

Thanks, Gary, I've got some requests out already but it never hurts to have another resource if needed, can you email her information to FastlaneMeetup2015@gmail.com?

Thank you.

I'm in no matter what, but Vegas actually seems like a fairly good spot to consider. Makes absolutely no difference to me though honestly I am just waiting for the announcement so I can purchase my ticket and book airfare to wherever we go.

I would be down for Vegas as an alternative.

I'm in the travel industry and I really think that this is a misconception. I follow certain routes weekly and their pricing is not cheaper the further out you book. In fact, I see prices come down as time gets closer. However, certain days like 1 week before or 2 weeks before seem to always have jumps in price. But 2 months out to 1 month out the prices seem the same to me.

I'm looking at booking flights for February and when I started watching 3 months ago they were $1900. Today they are $1850. But flights that land at odd times on the same route are at $1760.

BTW, I've also found that Tuesday at night the prices seem to drop and then pop back up on Wednesday morning.
