Whats the difference here? Yelp dont maky any profit tripadvisor on the other hand makes a huge amount of profit!

I know why Yelp isnt making money and how tripadvisor is making money, but why does yelp require so much money to get that kind of revenue?

Really baffling im on their Wiki just now and the amount that has been funded into it is a crazy amount. People obviously are putting money in for a stake in the company. If Google or Yahoo where to buy them then they would get rewarded. They will be holding out for a crazy bid. I still preffer Trip Advisor imo but I like how it has a sort of Meet up Column on the right hand side.

From what I read online, Priceline and Expedia bring in a HUGE chunk of TripAdvisors revenue. Yelp doesn't have the benefit of huge name partners yet.
