My name is Tom, living in Switzerland, age 48, father of 2 (14 & 24), married. On my bread-job I work as a consultant with a global IT-vendor.
(How long is an intro here, usually? According to "the books" I shouldn't just ask about how to make millions, so ...commencing tldr-part...

In general, I join this forum today, having read TMF and Unscripted , after founding my own company a few years ago, selling primarily smartphone-apps. These books contain life-changing inspiration for me.
About myself: after a rough time 20 years back that let me strive through cancer-treatment, early divorce, depression and fighting for child-custody, I somehow managed to get back on my feet. Few years later I moved to Switzerland, for the sake of nature and a change of scenery. In this forum I'm not looking for pity, I'm looking for peer entrepreneurs.
Trying to line out what's driving me:
Even though there are a lot of decent jobs in Switzerland, I still always longed for something "more". For more time, meaning financial freedom, to make more out of the time I have. Time for myself, my family and for experiencing this planet. I came to the conclusion that we all can be pretty much anything we want, given that one has a the right idea at the right moment. Or, as MJ De Marco puts it: The world is full of problems, craving for solutions and it's all about our capability to come up with such a solution. The ability to see an open road where others see nothing but a problem, may offer a path to FFF - Fitness, Family, Freedom. Such a solution can be one's own contribution to society - and here's the tricky part: learning to monetize this contribution.
I already dug through my own planning phase over and over, re-invented our initial product (an app to support your privacy and digital well-being) and now found myself in the desert of loneliness.... having a product that's ready to sell, accompanied by a ton of doubts, and the fear of potential own success and endless other ideas for apps
So, here I hope to find good conversations, valuable insights and actual business experience. Away from stale and empty LinkedIn BS towards genuine knowhow, personal wisdom and the obsession to make the own business grow.
