I started a hosting company a few months back, only to realize that neither I nor my partner had time to market it between our regular jobs and family obligations. Seemed like a good idea at the time, and we spent a couple weeks setting everything up and fine-tuning the technical side of things...but we never got to put in the sustained marketing effort it would take to make it profitable.
So here's what we've got:
Currently set up as an unmanaged dedicated service to minimize customer support, but could just as well host game servers, shared hosting, or VPS. This would be good if you are a tech savvy entrepreneur or salesperson who wants to sell dedicated servers to local businesses for backup and hosting purposes...perhaps a web designer who wants to start taking in monthly hosting revenue...or maybe someone who is currently a reseller, and interested in cutting out the middleman.
This is turnkey for anyone willing to get out there and sell, or who has existing customers. We have more hardware available if desired.
Our asking price is $6000.

- Browser-based serial console access (this clever bit lets customers access their machine even if they do something stupid like break networking)

- 16 servers - 13x quad-core xeon 2.4Ghz, and 3x dual-core Opteron 2.4Ghz - all with 4GB ram, and 500GB hard drive

- Colocation in downtown Los Angeles (desirable spot)
