Hello, I thought I'd make my first post an introduction. I'm 20 years old, from Scotland and just now I'm currently a mech eng for an oil company.
So far I've never experienced the hardships that by the looks of it many people have had here so I can't throw in a story about how I was broke with no where to go or how my family was in poverty growing up. Ever since I was young I've been intrigued by money and business, I've never managed to get my head around why some people are happy to work for and make others rich whilst sh**ing most of their hard earned income in tax etc. However I followed the same route, came out of school and started working for a global oil and gas company, through my time there I've come to realise that although there is a lot of money in the industry everything is chaotic and so disorganised.
All I want in life is to be financially independent, own a small house with a big garage that I've had built and have nice cars (I'm a car nut). In my head it's so simple to get there - find a service/item that people need/want to buy, find a way to market it and sell, sell, sell. It really is as simple as that and yet I'm going round in circles not knowing what exactly to do and it gets frustrating at times because it really is that. simple. When I'm driving places every company I see I wonder what the story is and how they operate.
For the past year I've been trying to consume as much information as I possibly can on everything to do with investing money, making money, business etc. At the moment I'm reading "grinding it out" about Ray Kroc and his journey through life that ended with him creating McDonald's. Two Wednesday's ago I went to a little restaurant about half an hour from the city in the middle of no where, she's turned it into an American diner-esque restaurant and it is very good, the highlight for me being the chicken wings. Whilst reading about Ray Kroc it made me realise there's an opportunity right in front of me, a fantastic restaurant that's in the middle of no where and getting limited customers, so what if I was to take a franchise of it of sorts and stick it closer to the city? I'm forver having ideas but I just don't know how to go about them and so I'm hoping to absorb as much information from others as I can on here.
