The Play Store and personalization apps

I came to notice that the market for paid android apps is completely dominated by personalization apps. Namely icon packs apps. Does anyone here ever made a profit from that kind of apps? And if so, what can you say about that as a source of passive income?

Personalization is what Android is famous for right? So I assume developers are pushing this paradigm to the limit and people are buying into it. The same thing with all the gacha games and flappy bird clones etc. etc.

Personalization and game clones are quiet different models. Normally those kind of games follow a freemium model, because that is the most effective method within the android community. Since there is a huge resistance when it comes to paying for an app on the android community. However personalization apps seem to be an exception to this trend. What I'm curious about is the kind of revenue you can get from personalization apps.
