Well, I'm going to try something new here in my intro thread... be honest. So I will start there.
Usually if I sign up on a forum, I avoid the introduction threads. Lurking and the occasional post has been my way for quite some time. That way people get less insight as to who I am, or in my way of thinking, what I'm not.
But thanks to reading MJ's post on his story I figured I would try it a bit differently here.
Reading your post MJ, you hit home on a number of issues. The feelings of being stuck and unmotivated are all to familiar. I am 22 years old, not currently in college because I can't afford tuition, though I did attend for two and half years. I have serious issue with working for other people and having them determine when I can use the restroom. Which has been made quite apparent to me since I have been fired from the last 3 jobs I've had. Working for Wells Fargo as a teller, as a content developer for a travel website and doing NBD for an office furniture company. I am currently a substitute teacher for a local school district and attempting to grab a 2nd part time job in the evenings to help pay the debts I have.
Ever since I can remember I have been attempting to do business my way. If it was selling vegetables from my garden, door to door when I was 6. Cleaning out neighbors garbage cans when I was 10, to chasing my tail in web business currently. I have dumped pretty much all the money I currently have into a website that is currently being developed. My motivation to succeed on my own is great, but my motivation to do the things I probably should be to 'get by' is slim.
I can relate to you MJ when you said that a 40 hour week was a vacation, and also that it doesn't feel like work. I truly enjoy every hour I spend hammering something out. Unfortunately I have a lot of people who don't understand what I'm doing, as well as don't see the internet as a viable source of income. I saw living at home as safety net, but more so as a safety blanket. My living arrangements could very well be changing here shortly.
I am not sure the fear behind telling my current 'story' if it is my fear of people not taking me seriously, or just simply that I myself am ashamed of where I'm at. Never the less I still browse tons of car forums to try and keep my motivation up.
