This Shit Took Balls
Today I resigned my six figure job, bonus, everything. I gave my boss a 3 week notice which turned into four after some back and forth. At one point one of my direct reports (who I admire, all around great guy) said in front of my boss, no, no, no you can't go. We cannot run our business without you. That will leave a huge gap. I only mention this because I think it set panic in with my boss.
Shock Sets In
Long story short. My entire leadership team tried to talk me out of it but every single one of them said: I admire you for having the balls to do this. I too have thought about branching out on my own. My boss actually said "I am jealous but I am very happy for you". In these conversations I was asked about my business and I gave a high level description of it. I did mention sourcing products from China. It turns out that my boss and her boss know two different people that spent many years in the import business and many years in China. They both offered to put me in touch with these people, I of course accepted their offer.
Contract Gig?
As the day came to a close my boss and I got to talking and she asked what is the biggest obstacle getting in the way of my business and work. I told her time and that I need more time to put into my business. That led to a discussion about me working part-time. I told her I was not interested but that a consultant/contract work 2 days a week would be appealing. She agreed and asked me to start thinking about my rate. My boss and her boss are having dinner tonight and she is going to bring it up to him.
Full Disclosure
I have 8-months to a year(major budget tightening) to cover expenses.
Moral of the story: If you are ready, take the F*cking jump now...stop thinking about it! Sure you have to have a plan and have identified a product/service, market, etc. When you have faith, a mindset of abundance and you take action you the rewards will be waiting for you in one fashion or another on the other side of fear.
In the past week, I have expanded my network(see my prior posts), quit the slowlane, gained some help from experts. All of that said and I had not fu*kin idea that today was a full, yellow moon on Friday the 13th.
