Question about Licensing an Idea to a Company to Supplement Their Product Line

Hey guys, once again I have a very specific question in regards to licensing. I currently have an idea that I would like to pitch to Company A which would basically be a different product for them to bring to market based upon products they already have. In essence it would be licensing just the idea for the company to bring forth a new product line with an already VERY established brand, one I am sure everyone here has bought and enjoys on a very frequent basis. But, in terms of filing for a provisional patent, would that even be of any use as it is just simply a change of product which is completely owned by said company? An example would be Company A creates soft drinks, but can you license the idea to branch off the soft drink flavors into different types of products, such as Company A brand popsicles.

Just looking to see if anyone has done anything like this before or if it could even fall into something that could potentially be licensed. Thanks again guys.
