Hello Guys,

Through this thread, I hope to share with you all of my progress on starting my own " language consultancy business" which consists of translation, transcription, interpreting, and tutoring services.

I plan to start off and make enough to make it my full time "job" and from there, develop it into a fast lane business through: courses, ebooks, seminars, dvds, and anything scalable that i can get my hands on.

So far, I've been focusing mainly on "regional" clients... Since I am from Brazil, many people seek out English translation. I dont know If I got off on the right foot with a portuguese name, fan page, etc but if anything I will make one in english as well.

So far I have:

http://tntraducoes.blogspot.com.br/
facebook.com/tntraducoes
https://twitter.com/tntraducoes

I plan on expanding into a variety of social media platfors and doing doing video marketing and local seo work as well. ( seo here is weak, shouldnt be much of a problem.)

I have created a list of all major local classifieds and custom graphic ads to place in them.

Im having difficulty in conveying my message into the right target audience and figuring out which means of communication will help me "talk" to my potential clients.

Clients I am looking for range from: app developers, web developers, bloggers,
internet marketers, students that need to translate their academic texts, import and export businesses, companies looking to expand in Brazil and much more.

If I could be of an assistance to you, if anyone feels like chatting, has questions, basically anything you need, feel free to message me at any time because I am eager to learn and determined to get this done.

Will be keeping this thread up to that.

Thank you all!

- Thiago

Hey Hicks,

Here's the thing: Im proficient in both English and Portuguese and would like to start an online business offering translation, transcription and interpreting services for these two languages.

My biggest trouble is getting clients. I'm from a small town and not many people utilize these services (one of the reasons why im going online with this.) I just don't know how to attract the right customers. Im having trouble landing my first client.

What do you work with specifically?

Problem is... still no clients.

I started reading a thread I found online and this one guy said to focus on getting 3 clients. As soon as you get 3 clients things would start moving forward. ( He mentioned doing this as a way to "test the market" before you go out and spend thousands on a website and etc).

* Just as a reminder to you guys, Im starting this venture in order to quit the 9 to 5. Don't need much from where I'm from. After that, the extra money wil be utilized for other projects. I also plan on making this scalable (fastlane) and hiring translators to do the work for me in the future as well as develop language DVD's, language schools, make info products that will teach people how to break into this industry.
