In doing the exercises outlined in RussH's legendary thread, I realized I needed to get my goals into a concise and workable format. I wondered what kind of planning software might help me. I'm already running Microsoft Money and Quickbooks. I have a GoogleDoc that lists my core values and character. AND I have these grandiose visions of what I want!
...but I needed something to help me connect the dots...
And then it hit me: Microsoft Word. Here's how I did it.

- Turn on bullets or numbering.
- Bullet One: Write a short, simple description of my current status, i.e. net worth, job, house, relationships...
- Bullet Two: Write a similar description of what I want in the future (I chose the age of 50).
- Between One and Two, enter a new Bullet Two. Here I wrote an intermediate stage. A broad "how." A milestone.
- Then I just continued to inject new bullet points. If it wasn't clear how one fit with the next; I wrote another, smaller milestone between them. Or I copy-pasted them around the page.
- I made sure to be more detailed toward the top of the page. These are actionable items I can be working on NOW!
