I posted on here a couple weeks ago, I labeled it as a progress thread when looking back it was more an introduction. Because of that I've decided to update my progress through this thread.
This is my first business and I'm trying to learn as much as I can. I'm 22 years of age so I've got loads of time to learn! I plan to try and update this thread each week. Keep me motivated!
So I've just launched my site this week, It's aimed at music producers, specifically EDM. All the products I'm offering are completely unique to me. I guess at the beginning it's going to be difficult to stand out, but what business isn't? I've created lots of products over the last few weeks and I've recruited a few friends to help out. Although not all products have been launched on the site yet, I'm working on building an email list by offering a small sample of each product for free in one. I've had a few subscribers in the first week but nothing substantial yet.
I'm slowly building up a twitter, Instagram and soundcloud following. However I find that although many of the followers are music producers, I don't get much interaction from them. I've also created loads of threads on music producer forums offering the free product. It's generated a small amount of traffic for me which I'm actually quite pleased about.
I've set up a blog on the site. I searched for which keywords are the most popular and designed articles around them. I also used amazon affiliate to link each product I mention in the hope I can generate some sort of commission.
I've just got a job in a fairly big company, pay isn't the best but I need something to keep me at my current location. One of the perks is a share scheme where I'm given around £4K a year in company shares. In the long run I'd like to slowly build this business and after a couple years sell what shares I've earn't to invest in the business and leave the current job. What do you guys think of this idea? Or is there a better use for the shares?
Thanks for reading guys, would love to hear some ideas on generating a little more traffic and marketing ideas. I know the direction I want to be heading in and I have a vision of where I want to be. Hopefully I'll glue it all into place
Thanks for the motivation and drive
