Making Foreign Investments

This applies to those from the USA making investments in another country.

A concern I have about making investments in a country outside of the USA is that I'm not familiar with its surroundings. Such that if g_d forbid, they were to pull a runner, they'll be harder to track down.

To those that may have had experience making foreign investments. What's your take on this?
