Definitely real estate. I agree - gold is just a pretty rock to me. My girlfriend hates this opinion

But real estate imo is overvalued right now, in most areas. Deals exist but tougher to find and much more competition. But given the choice I would go with real estate.

Find a great deal or let the market cool off.

Two different asset classes.
Gold = appreciation or a place to store wealth.
RE done by the experienced investor = income, with maybe but not guaranteed appreciation.
Bad question.

I love real estate but I have 13 years of experience constructing and developing. It's a difficult practice to do right (at least here) because there is a lot of stupid money.
