Hi all
I´d to introduce myself and ask you guys something.
I`m 18 years old, I live in Switzerland and in 2 weeks I`ll finish my commercial apprenticeship.
I had to work 4 days and go to school 1 day. I really hated that job because it was horrible to do the same work every - single - day. I never understood how some of the employees who worked with me could stay employees and do the same job in the same enterprise for 15 years
. In school our focus was economics and I really enjoyed that subject.
Anyway, I promised myself that, after my apprenticeship, I will never ever do something for so long that I don`t enjoy. At that time I thought that the slowlane will solve my problem.
That was until I read TMF about 4-5 months ago and it totally changed my way of thinking!
Since then I changed my mindset and habits radically. Just recently I even cut nearly all of my friendships because they had toxic mindsets, were unemployed and only had drugs, alcohol and hanging out in their mind.
One of the few friends who remained had an idea for something like a social network. He and I agreed to work on this idea together. My problem for taking action is that neither him nor me know much about programming. I know something about business administration because of my apprenticeship and he knows less than me. Our approach was to learn a lot more about business administration and a little about programming. After we feel ready, we start to create this site we have in mind and when we need one, we hire a programmer.
My problem is: I`m afraid that we are doing mental masturbation with our "first learn-approach", but I`m also afraid that as soon as we start to implement our idea and one day or another hire a programmer or take investement we will be useless and be replaced by people who studied business administration, marketing and so on. Or other much more qualified people will copy our idea and do it much better and faster than us.
Could you help me on this problem? Are we doing right by first learning all about business and litte about programming or are we completely wrong?
