Hey oh!
Happy to be here. I grew up in the Washington DC area but have been in Utah since 2008 when I officially left the corporate world behind for good. I've co-founded several SaaS, agency, digital product, etc. companies but have found the most success in Performance Marketing / Lead Gen / Customer Acquisition as a business model. Currently have a "capped opportunity" due to the current partner structure, so while going through a cycle of "what's the next model and business" to start, a friend recommended Unscripted and I felt like it was the book I wished I had written. I found myself fist pumping and giving a lot of hell ya's along the way. I was already awake and had ditched the script for the most part, but looking for new frameworks to sort and sift opportunity and this is it. Excited to apply what I'm learning and be helpful to others along the way.
Quick personal notes and backstory, I was born and lived in France for 5 years, spent 2 years in Russia for my church back in '97&'98, and have lived in the DC area and Utah. Family is my focus and my why. I've got 9 kids ages 11 to 24 and first grandkid on the way this year! My 24 and 22 yo sons work for themselves building businesses and my 17 and 16 yo sons are interning with me to learn the ropes. Family & entrepreneurship run deep. I grew up working in the family business, a chemical factory! I did everything from mix and package chemicals, run shipping and receiving, bookkeeping, production management, sales & marketing over the years. Now any free time I have is spent reading good books -- either non-fiction, philosophy, or classical literature, or practicing BJJ (two years in and blue belt). I'm obsessed with Growth - business and personal. Always pushing.
I've started more businesses than I can count -- several which have failed and never crossed the $1M mark -- but I've also had over a dozen cross the $1M annual mark, two over $10M annual, and one currently over $30M annual generating hundreds of thousands of leads per month via paid media, marketing automation, and heavy Ai integrations. Looking to build a $100M+ business next and looking for inspiration.
