Looks like Instagram has decided to roll out changes to their algorithm, changing it from a chronological feed to a "related posts" feed. This is similar to what FB changed a few years back and what Twitter is slowly moving towards.
Seems like this will have a huge impact on how business is done via Instagram. All the power users will stay at the top and continue to stay there whereas the smaller guys will have a tough time getting brand exposure.
Instagram is saying that "it's for the users": Link to Instagram press release here. But I think it's really because they are figuring out a way to make more money from advertisements. Engagement has been decreasing since last year for IG and they need a way to spice things up.
So far, users are NOT happy about this change and I think, rightly so.
Anyone on the forum have any thoughts on this? I've yet to speak to one person who is happy about this change. Just curious.
