Does it make any difference whether or not the .html is in the url or not for SEO purposes. I googled some terms and noticed websites with and without it were coming up so obviously its not a huge factor but can anyone explain pros and cons if there are any?

even my link to this post is .html ....is it needed? Also i notice many sites use random numbers like this has 191395 at the end what is the purpose of randomizing links, to keep away scrapers? Arent those random numbers only hurting the seo for this thread?

Is this the reason? now the directory above will get indexed into google so anything like this below:

would be considereed a duplicate? but adding the .html and making it:
thefastlaneforum dot com/web-businesses-internet-marketing/article1.html
would show google it is different content so it would get indexed as well?
