Thought this would be an interesting topic, and I'm interested in what experiences/ideas you guys have about this.
I think there is an opportunity to try to replicate ideas that have worked on a wide-scale basis on a local level, but am curious what type of local businesses people on here have started. People often try to start online businesses targeting a large market in hopes for huge sales, but local markets usually have a lot less competition, can be much cheaper to market to, and often lets you focus on specific needs. It's easier to become the dominant player in your local market rather than trying to take on larger established companies on a national or global level.
Has any one tried starting businesses like local directories, local classified sites, local real estate sites, local travel & tourism sites, local daily deal & shopping sites, or anything else?
