How Much should a new e-biz invest into Pay Per Click ads?

Hi How's it going.

I'm in the process of Launching a new health and fitness website- the revenue model is based on monthly membership subscriptions.
The biggest challenge of any new start up is getting the word out. So many great web based business ideas fail due to a lack of money spent in online marketing. I really don't want to make that mistake and will do whatever it takes to make my site a success!

I already have an understanding of how I'm going to utilise social media marketing, email, Guerilla advertising, SEO and viral video campaigns.

But when it comes to Pay Per Click ads - What percentage of turnover would you invest in PPC ads?

Please let me know, I'm also very interested in seeing any case studies or examples. Thanks very much
