Honest feedback needed : Website layout

Hi guys. Been a while since I've been on here and I'm pleased to announce that my project is now live 😀

So far from everyone I've spoken with 99% of them think the website is a fantastic idea.

However I've had a handful of people (mainly those closer and more honest with me) say that the layout is confusing (obviously as i built/designed it, it's harder for me to see these short comings...)

So I'm here to ask for some critical feedback as to what you guys think of the site.

Do you know what the site is for?
Is it easy to read/use?
Can you assume what features are available for people who register?

Hopefully you come away with the idea that the site is for car enthusiasts, and people can find car clubs, forums, meets and events that are local or relevant to them. Likewise users can also ADD their own clubs/meets/events or share one they know of.. not only that but users can also promote the meets/events/clubs they want others to know about by posting AS those profiles... there's also the usual social network features such as posting comments, likes, images and saying that they are attending or following a club/meet/event/user.

I've been thinking for a while now to re-design the site, or simply adding features (such as email notifications) to entice people to come back to the site more frequently when something happens (such as when someone creates a meet that x number of users would be interested in)

So.. what do you guys think? Should i dedicated some time to re-designing to a more traditional style layout, or should i use that time to better promote and move forward with getting the site out there?

(And yup i know about the html errors, they are being fixed as we speak )
