Hello fast lane peeps. I've been browsing through these fine forums for a while now and decided that it was about time to make an account and start posting.
I have been in the IM scene for a while but after starting my own offline business, have lost track on what's new and hot on the internet nowadays. My offline business is just starting up so I haven't gained much traction yet. Still advertising and such at this point.
I actually have been going thread by thread in the Self Publishing forum on here and I find it really interesting as I have written a few ebooks of my own. Granted, they were in the IM niche but still, I learned so much about writing interesting and engaging script and sold quite a few copies of one of my books. I noticed that a bit of people on these forums have seen some impressive success publishing their own books and it is something that I am looking to explore further.
Now, I'm not saying that I'm going to deviate from my offline business to pursue Self Publishing on it's own, however, I have always enjoyed writing (even though I need a lot of work to actually get good.) and was hoping to learn from some of you on here whom have more experience than I.
I was recently laid of from my job of many years and have since decided to give working for myself a fair shot. I'm tired of making other people tons of money and getting laid off as a payback. I have a wife and three kids so my success is a must.
My question to you all is; Do you think writing and publishing my own book would be a good plan to make some extra cash? Provided that I do the proper research involved in picking a hot selling genre of course.
Or, do you think I would fair better writing articles for other people? I have done some research and haven't seen too many people that are willing to pay more than $5.00 per 500 words.
I guess I'm just thinking out loud here but I have noticed that this community always seems to offer really solid advice and it's nice to see people genuinely try to help other people. I do have some experience in different areas so I also hope to contribute to this great forum.
