I went to search google patents but nothing came up. When I searched the person with my idea, in the small description when you search google under each link it says they have a patent. I scouraged their website and see no sign of that patent statement. How close of an idea can a patent be that prevents me from further pursuing it. There was a patent for my other idea that was kind of related to mine, but not really. Anyways I checked to see the legal history and it stated that the patent expired due to the person failing to pay the maintenance fee. Can I just repatent an idea?? I can PM someone the link of the idea, I just don't want this to get too public.

I don't have any knowledge on patents, so you can stop your competitors aslong as you patent an idea?

Nvm, it was a dumb question, I looked it up.
