I know that some of you specialize in SEO or have internet marketing companies you have started up. Does Google for instance provide a document detailing what are all the factors considered that either increase or hurt your ranking in their search results? Or have they kept that proprietary and the experts had to figure it out by trial and error? I just like to understand the criterias or factors that drive page ranking to the top other than you just need a lot of people visiting your site.

Thanks for any insight about this.
