I think crowdfunding success mostly shows how well the people who launch the campaign built their audience before the launch.
In other words ... if you don't have an audience already and just launch, then a flop does not tell you that there is little demand for your product if you do proper marketing.
Crowdfunding is NOT an alternative to marketing. You need to drive eyeballs to your campaign somehow.
