Odds from time magazine
Winning the lotto: Sheer 'luck'. Better changes of being bitten by sharks or struck by lightening.
NY Times best seller: 1 in 220.. <-- That's actually amazing in my opinion.. Not sure how they concluded this, but I'll take those odds.
Obvious question is obvious: Why aren't more people trying to make their own luck by starting businesses, writing articles, painting, doing anything, etc..
Obvious answer is obvious: It takes much more work than to spend $2 on a lotto ticket.
But seriously, if I was a writer and I decided to write 220 books and you're going to guarantee me that at least one (could be more) book is going to be a best seller? I would have started yesterday..
Consider the odds here then consider everything written in MJ's book, the odds are still great to gain your wealth. Considering that a great majority have or will have played the lotto at least once in their life (shit, I'm guilty), I'd even say the odds are in our favor of getting wealthy even if it's just making $10 -> $50k -> $1M.
