I'm helping a friend design a small business offering training courses (in-person classes) in a particular subject area.
So far, here's my ultra-basic plan:
- Design outline of the course to be offered (leave content until later)
- Design marketing plan and brand
- Set up systems to take orders (local skype-in number, professional receptionist)
- Set up payment systems
- Execute marketing plan
- Receive orders
- If not enough orders received, refund money and apologise.
- If enough orders, finish content design, book location, arrange catering, arrange equipment & people required
- Operate course
- Request exit feedback, and redesign this process based on feedback
- Repeat
We will essentially pick a topic (already done), take orders, use the money to pay for everything, and keep the change. No money down
Have you ever run any training courses? What have your experiences been? Any tips or warnings you could share?
