Instead of wading through tons of Alibaba vendors to make sure they are manufacturers and meet all of the vetting criteria, I’ve been getting chatgpt to do it for me. Typical prompt goes something like this: List Alibaba manufacturers who are capable of full customization to manufacture OEM camping chairs made of carbon and aluminum. List only verified manufacturers with trade assurance, over 70 employees, over five years in business, previous shipments to USA, ratings 4.5 or better. I then type the names into Alibaba and search by “suppliers”. Double check everything because it’s never 100% correct, but it’s a huge time/stress saver. Try tweaking criteria and search several times for best results.
Oh, after seeing a product offered that I knew was patented, I’ve also started using Chatgpt to avoid infringing. I’ll drop a screenshot of an Alibaba product into chatgpt and ask it who in the US sells this product and is it covered by any patents. If it thinks it’s patented I do a “deep research” prompt to give me details on patents and workarounds.
FYI, I have the $20/month version; I don’t think the free version is up to these task.
