Actionable Tips For More Conversions

I thought it would be a great idea if we could all share our business tips in one thread. I mean, who doesn't want more sales?

You can share anything that could be implemented in your business today to increase conversions tomorrow

My tips:
1. Put a picture of a human in your ad copy or homepage, preferably smiling. This is known to increase conversions
2. Ask for the sale. When I sell on ebay, I use phrases like "you are bidding on x" and "bid now for free shipping" 2-3 times in my descriptions. I believe this puts people in a buying mood
3. Add social proof to all your copy.

I'll probably think of more later

Note: It is recommended that you split-test each time you implement something new, because nothing is set in stone

4. Give a freebie away with the product you sell.
5. Strip your sign up forms down to the smallest number of data fields possible.

Btw. Be careful with the social proof. The longer the length of the copy, the lower the conversion.

By social proof i meant showing your product reviews, facebook likes, credibility in the industry, etc.

Also, there are studies where longer copy did better and where shorter copy did better. Thats why I recommend to split-test everything

Conversions optimisation is one of those sexy subjects everybody and their brother is writing about. Most of the stuff is just fluff and link bait anyways.

Got any figures on this?

Don't have any hard figures on this, but I noticed after implementing it that I seemed to get more sales. I usually just wait it out as far as testing on ebay. *Searching* There's also the option that you could make 2 of the same item listings at once, one control and one variable. I will do this and report back
