I’m new to the forum and the world of entrepreneurship. A little about me ; I’m a 30 year old welder/fabricator and I currently work as a Forman on a road crew Ironworking. I always wanted to journey into this path. I love creating things and ideas and seeing them unfold into reality, perhaps that’s what I love about fabrication. I plan on learning more about my industry and taking baby steps. My first baby step is getting financially fit and save 8 months worth of money to start my business ... Two years ago I got into a serious atv accident. Being out of work nearly a year drained my savings and ruined my credit. I have 60k in medical debt and I’m currently going through bankruptcy to clear it. The good news is that I regained function in my arms and can still perform my craft.

(MY WHY)
I watched my mother start off in poverty and work her way through community college and finally through a Ivy League school in hope for a better life . I witnessed years of her climbing the corporate ladder only to get shit on the more she climbed; long hours,stressed all the time, and her bosses pushing more work on her and taking credit for most of her achievements. Her work took away from me the person I love I could no longer have a conversation with her without it going straight to a work related issue and seeing her soul sucked out of her from the draining job. The mountains of student loan debt and years invested into something she hated kept her from moving into another field. I personally witness her build the company she was at and the insane hours she spent for no rewards 40k a year capped and with the mentality of “she should just be thankful she has a job... “

Two months ago I got the worst news of my life. A call from my father telling me my mom had cancer...
I felt myself break down. She had just landed her dream job a week before and now this...The news came back from the doctors; it’s stage 4 and terminal. Her world and mine both got flipped. My father stopped working to take care of her. I moved into her house with my fiancé (whom I’m marring this summer) to help pay the bills and help care for her. Sometimes I feel nothing, other times it tears me up.
Under the extreme circumstances I have been trying to save money every way I can towards my goals. I’m so grateful to have a caring soon to be wife.She has stuck by my side through this incredibly tough rut!

( My Goals)
1. Study quoting within the steel industry and figure out how long it takes me to do jobs and cost of material when I work.
2. Save any money I can manage to save. Even if it means extremes like taking a shit at work instead of the house to save money on toilet paper
3. Learn every thing I can about business; read more books and read this forum.
4. Try to take care of myself better physically and mentally.
