Detroit is riddled with crime, political corruption, a decreasing population since 2010, real estate prices have tanked, and to be quite frank is just an overall shithole in many areas. A lot of people refer to Flint and some areas of Detroit as looking like third world countries.

Venezuela has completely collapsed, or is on the verge of completely collapsing. There is an extreme level of political instability, economic turmoil, crime, and insane levels of inflation. It's become like Germany was before the rise of Hitler.
