Hey, thanks for your inspirations - it's great to hear other stories and to understand that no way is straight, it's much more often around many corners.@WannaB also, the simple answer is to never give up.
According to the author and public speaker Brian Tracy, it takes the average person 20 years from deciding to become a self-made millionaire to success (adjusting for inflation, self-made decamillionaire). The number may be wrong, but the point is, you try one thing. You faill, you try another. You fail, you change the approach and try again. Research shows, one of the key traits of a successful entrepreneur is resourcefulness/flexibility.
If you fail, it doesn't mean that you suck. It means that you are normal. Especially if you were not working on it 10 hours/day.
There are other ways to acquire experience, too. For example, become an Angel investor. I started by investing 60k in one company after 6 months of due diligence. Money that I earned as an employee. Then I was in several other negotiations until eventually making a second small investment. I've learned so much, and both companies are still afloat. Then simply mentioning those experiences opened other doors for me.
That, for example, gave me real understanding of what a balance sheet is, how cash flow relates to balance sheet and to profit computed in other ways. This also allowed me to become a more valuable cofounder who has some understanding of finance/accounting as well as to understand certain fintech areas, where I can now understand and even come up with entrepreneurial ideas. Then other entrepreneurs I've known for some time see my evolution and get more interested in collaborating with me.
Success is nonlinear. It is not always, you start a company, you succeed. Sometimes you follow a zigzag.
I am also not feeling down or that it would be an ego topic. What I know is that I just keep my eyes open, make opportunities happen and use them - if they feel right for me.
Thanks to you and all others in this forum, never did I witness more support on any other platform.
