I was attending pitching idea event. Everyone get turn to pitch idea, sell to investor. After pitching, coordinate guide us to enhance our pitching.
1. What problem do you solve?
2. How much you need it?
3. Why investment is exiciting?
4. Who is in your team?
5. Why is good return/strong cash flow?
6. How the reporting progress to investor?
7. whats your exit strategy?

Hope this could some guy have brief idea on pitching.

#3 is a MAJOR question to solve prior to your pitch.

This is especially important in the 30 second pitches. Sometimes you can save yourself in a 3 minute version with less "excitement".

BTW - I saw a guy make it to a second round of investors with one sentence. Based on #3 alone.

I would also recommend that you show some positive feedback from the market for the idea you are raising funding for.

Yup, I heard that too. Unfortunately, It's not easy to pitch with one sentence only.

Actually, they advise to start up something yourself first before ask for funding.

Ya, I honed my pitch to 2 sentences. :)

as an investor, I always want to know

1. how much money
2. how soon do i get my money back
3. how much profit do I get to make? whats the upside?

I realize there is a down side. NOW I want to know what kind of upside I can have.

Watch a few Shark Tank episodes ... you'll know after an hour or two what investors want, and what metrics are important for them to move forward.
