You know shit talking is not part of my agenda.. I was just very surprised to see such flaming trolls in a forum I expected mostly
Positivity. I am not stooping I am merely just speaking his language.. I have respect for respectful members.. I admitted earlier in this post I was a little green to the culture here and that my question could of been more detailed.. Ive spent the last few days chewing up all I can on the subject and a long the way Ive actually come across a much better better than I ever could of imagined to find here on the subject, a thanksgiving miracle maybe who knows lol..
Dude...I wouldn't even help you, and I'm very positive and nice a person. I will tell you why. I've been on here for a year myself, and have grown a lot, and one of those things is learning people don't help you unless you're willing to do the research, apply, take action, and show you're serious about entrepreneurship. As far as networking, the way you speak to people is a huge turn off for being a professional. Communication is an important part. And may I suggest listening to Dan Pena, for the simple reason you will understand you have to earn respect before someone will help you. I think you're language, emotions, and feelings show you react rather than respond which is another indicator you're not ready for a mentor. If they gave you advice and you didn't like it, you would get all bent out of shape by the way you respond to the comments.

You where able to see that I've been a member for a year. Yes I signed up one year ago but I only became active last week both reading and posting and I bought the book last week also.

And this year I've been a member where I haven't been on reading or posting is due to many factors it was a very taxing year in many areas, personal, emotional and financially

And to admit my opening post could of been a little more detailed in what I was seeking but I was in a rush this morning

Don't judge a man from a forum post...
...
Im huge Dale Carnegie fan, it may not of shone trough on this post at all I snapped a little after getting jumped on sure look we all do.. I was tense, spend the nights before not getting any sleep as Im a workaholic and prepared for my holiday trip

This post would be my advice if you wanted me to mentor you - start taking 100% RESPONSIBILITY FOR EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS TO YOU.

Didn't do any research last year? I MADE A DECISION to not do any research last year.

My opening post was criticized? I decided to post when I was in a rush and I could not commit to writing good content.

People on the forum are not instantly giving me the advice I need? I chose not to research the forum culture or spend time writing a high quality post.

I have done some reading on human relations but still snapped at someone? I chose not to stick to a healthy sleeping routine and wake up feeling fresh and in a good mood.

You must start to think this every time you take an action or something happens - I AM RESPONSIBLE.
Success on any major scale requires you to accept full responsibility for your actions. This is a trait that all successful people have.

This isn't always nice and that's the point. No one at the lower thought levels do this. They blame it on the weather, the government, their friends, family, landlord, diet, financial situation. Everything in your life right now is 100% down to your decisions and your actions. You must accept this at a core level and let it change your outlook and approach.

I would be working on this first. Read some books on inner belief, personal responsibility and self talk.
If the foundation is not solid it will be hard to build success on top of it.

Post up your progress and actions and when the time is right someone (and their is lots of people here more then suitable) will jump in and start mentoring you. I would love a mentor off this forum but I wouldn't even ask until I have a track record of over a year of solid posts on here. I don't think it is fair to ask yet since there is so much free content already here that I have not yet implemented. When there are 30 page threads of info I haven't used yet it is disrespectful to their time to ask them directly to help me on that topic. People have spent lots of time writing such quality posts to think I am above reading them and can just get advice directly would be a massive sign of entitlement.

I hope this helps. Success begins internally and I think you have to work on that before people help with the externals.

It was as obvious as a Thai prosistutes bulge..

But I always encourage embracing the theatrics.. The world is our stage...

The rules are very specific, and I am...

A) too smart to...

and...

B) too busy making real money in real life to...

...run afoul of said rules.

I was simply having a conversation with you to bring some specificity and context to your somewhat vague OP.

That said, you say you seek a mentor, yet you have more experience than many of the millenials and puppy-millenials on this forum. :shifty: :meh:

What are you offering a mentor? What are you seeking in return?

I have a a little bit of money in a European stock account left over, only a few hundred bucks.. I want to cash out and stick it in Robinhood to get my feet wet. I was wondering if any of you experts would kindly mind giving a real rookie a little help with the starting steps.. It would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

why don't you read everything you can on the internet for 1 month. come back and ask way better questions?

While I respect the point your trying to make I am already 10 steps ahead in that regard. I've been reading everything I can online, bought some books including the intelligent investor and snowball ..

You where able to see that I've been a member for a year. Yes I signed up one year ago but I only became active last week both reading and posting and I bought the book last week also.

As we all know on this forum you can't beat a little coaching from someone with real life experience, I was looking for some starter pointers maybe some option suggestions.. I mean this is a forum for networking right? Heck I might even buy the right mentor some stocks of his choice as a thanks..

And this year I've been a member where I haven't been on reading or posting is due to many factors it was a very taxing year in many areas, personal, emotional and financially.. But I'm not here to cry about that .. Just the opposite but then we got guys like you jumping to clever assumptions etc.. If you have nothing productive to add why add anything at all?

"GIVE ME THIS" "I DESERVE THIS"

I hate anyone with that minds set... Personally .. I've worked in the music industry for 15 years.. After college I worked in a studio in LA for a year and half 17-18 hr shifts for absolutely zero pay.. I've worked my a$$ off in many areas but here we have another assumption maker who judges books by covers.. Wow I didn't expect this forum to filled by weak minded individuals. Very surprised at that here..

Like i said you don't have anything productive to add don't waste my time or yours.. Food for thought.. It's evident your not utilizing your time to work the process.. negative Nancy's go yap at the hair salon haha..

Do you have sales experience? Are you willing to sell?

You kind of asked for it.

Your post is a hilariously classic Newb post, just as the video below is classic Michael Scott:

The irony of your post is that your OP, by definition, would be considered trolling here. That's because of the culture here, which you obviously do not understand.

No worries. Not everyone picks up on it immediately.

Yea I am quite green to the culture here and I agree and do admit my opening post could of garnered better reception had I put more thought into it and given some backstory .. That said I still think the boys came on a little strong here.. Anyway I'd like to move past that and get to business...

To answer your question I do not have any experience in stock sales, am I willing to sell and gain experience yes..

I didn't mean "stock" sales. I meant sales in general.

Either way, you're learning to sell and gain experience. That's good.

A few questions:

Do you really live in California?

Do you have a cell phone?

Do you have a laptop and a reliable Internet connection?

Got you. Yes I do have experience in sales.

I do live in California I moved here from Ireland 10 years ago..

I have multiple cell phones, I have an office with computers and a 300mb internet line.

why do you ask?

Perfect.

How long have you sold? What have you sold? B2B or B2C? On the phone, in person, or both? Services, products, or both?

$HIT, brother. You're war ready then.

What is your income goal for the month of January 2016?

What are your income goals for the year of 2016?

I've been selling my own services since I was 15 years old (I write / produce music and own studios here in LA)

I've sold mostly B2C but also B2B. Mostly services, some products and real estate. In person, on the phone and online..

My income goals for 2016 are to get re-stabilized .. I had a huge tax upset in Europe at the end of 2013 that crushed me. I like to think big and I'm looking to at least clear 125k after taxes in 2016. And I don't consider 125k thinking big at all.. It's just realistic for the sake of this conversation.

Beast alert.

I've sold mostly B2C but also B2B. Mostly services, some products and real estate. In person, on the phone and online..

Give me the top three or four services and products you most enjoyed selling, where closing was the easiest, and the money just flowed.

What, specifically, have you sold B2B? Was the real estate you sold residential, or commercial? Did you sell as an agent, broker or as an owner?

My income goals for 2016 are to get re-stabilized .. I had a huge tax upset in Europe at the end of 2013 that crushed me. According to Grant Cardone's 10X logic, this means you should set your income goal at $1,250,000, because the level of activity you will need to hit $125,000 is the level of energy you will expend if you're trying to hit $1,250,000.

It's not perfect logic, but it does make a strong point.

I presume your plan to get "re-stabilized" in 2016 involves sales of some kind. May I ask what you plan on selling, or if you have figured that out yet?

Regarding taxes, let me ask: Are you a United States citizen? I only ask, because you said you moved here from Ireland, so I'm not sure where you were born, or which nation printed your passport.

USA taxes are the worst in the world. It is the only nation that taxes its citizens on their global earnings.

I plan to renounce my USA citizenship next year, and will purchase a Dominca citizenship to start.

Citizenship in Dominca costs around $150,000, including legal fees.

Dominca is a tax free jurisdiction and does not tax you on your income.

You said you have a phone and a laptop, and you can sell, which means you can make money from anywhere. Why do it in a country that will take 25% - 50% of your income?

I am on my phone as I'm traveling for the holidays so excuse the fact I can't format my respond as clearly as yours..

Well within my industry my number one service or product depending on how you look at to sell is my songs which I sell trough my publishing company to other artists or license for TV/film. After that I would say studio services, then real estate.. When I was 17-18 trying to fund my move to America and college I had some success going back and forth to UK on a ferry and buying cars for cheap and selling them market value in Ireland.. I enjoyed that but don't have much desire to do it again.. It was quite easy..

My B2B sales have been anything from studio services to outsourced technical and creative services such as SEO and graphic design. The real estate was both mostly commercial though in recent years and I acted as broker/middleman..

As you can probably tell by now my passion is in music. So in 2016 my goals to re-stabilize are hoping my publishers will push my catalog of songs and place to more big name artists .. That's focus number 1 I also want to partner with some internet marketing specialists as I've got some websites I invested in that have great potential they just need to be ran correctly so looking to partner on that..

And hence this thread get my feet wet in the stock market.

I'm an Irish citizen and trust me Ireland is no breeze when it comes to tax either. Although now they are being very friendly and welcoming to major corporations as you see many setting up headquarters there now.

I'm a resident here not a citizen yet and your point is very good but this is where the music business and my wife is haha..

So what is your reasoning for the questions? I appreciate them as we exploring options here but what has all this got to do with my initial question . Thanks

If this is truly a commission free app, how does customer service work if the app takes a crap and you need to get out of a trade immediately?

I've no idea I have the app but haven't started to use it yet. But they have a 5 star rating. The trades are 100% free they make their money on the commission of uninvested money from the clients ..

I totally forgot about it really.. I just opened it again last night after I realized I had 500 in stocks with Verizon and Vodafone so I figured I'd cash those out and buy some new stocks using the app.. Just researching some good options first to start dabbling .

sounds interesting actually. Jeez I could sit around all day taking little no risk $10 and $20 trades then. It does seem a little too good to be true, though. Not saying it is flawed but it reminds me of when the deep discount brokers started coming out with companies like ameritrade and suretrade and I remember how you could really need to be out of a trade like yesterday but they would put you and other customers on hold for 20+ minutes at a time.

Do you have any idea how much you can lose in 20 minutes on a trade that's going against you?

Yea I understand your concerns but based on my research it's all positive reviews from anywhere on the web but that's not first hand experience just research from others who use it.

They only negative I find people commenting on is that it takes 3 days for your money to clear but buying/selling stock is instant with tap of button.. Google there is some good articles and you can find some videos on YouTube showing you how it works.

Right on. Sounds cool. Just keep in mind that customer service is vital if you need out immediately and the technology stopped working. Now I'm wondering if they have some kind of redundancy built in for multiple ways to trade

That's an excellent point I am going to review their FAQ again. And see if I can find an answer to that question.

Don't stoop to John's level because you're not happy with him.
