As the lights start to go off in the gym, realizing I’m the last one there on a Saturday night, I walk outside to see a man with a new flashy sports car showing it off to surprised bystanders. As I get into my old, barely running truck all I can think of is the countless mistakes I’ve made trying to succeed. The time and money I threw at opportunities that twisted against me. When I felt I had it all at one point and it came crashing down. All the years I spent dwelling on mistakes and not taking action - all I can think of is, I will never quit trying again. A burning in my heart and my soul - knowing I don’t want shining things, I don’t want anything material - I just want to win, I want to succeed. I want to give my family everything we never had. As I attempt to get my truck started and drive off all I can think of is I have to win I can’t keep living this mundane life. In a long journey where Saturday nights no longer mean nights with friends at bars, those friends are gone - and I fully accept it.
I gave up myself to live a life of the road less travelled, and while the roadblocks have thrown everything into my face, my failures only help me learn when I quit letting them hold me back. I wipe the temporary shame off of my face and remember that while some may smile today, I will be smiling even greater tomorrow because I won’t ever quit. WE will never quit. Ever. F*cking ever.
To those reading this - never quit, never die, never lie, always keep your eye on the prize and everyone may hate you today but it’s beautiful because you know what’s coming for them tomorrow.
My story is not alone and while others may falter in the path, I will hustle even in my grave, WE will hustle until our graves. And remember everything you ever need is right here with you, right now, so don’t ever feel like you aren’t good enough to be the next Bill Gates or the next Elon Musk. Telling yourself otherwise is cutting yourself short. You may not be the best, but if you don’t believe in yourself while remaining humble, that’s surely to be the case.
