Sounds like you are over-complicating things.
Why not just pay $12 a month for Quickbooks? And then hand off the annual data to an accountant.
I'm not familiar with "profit first" or the book, but it seems a bit obvious. Why would anyone start a business if they couldn't profit, right from the get go?
We're not trying to be silicon valley entrepreneurs who need VCs and various Series fundings to make their first profit, often years later.
