Ethan here, from Montana. Currently 24, spending my first year with the railroad. Its a seasonal job, and I'll be furloughing for the winter next month, which makes my discovery of TFM perfect timing; I'll have six months or so to do something fastlane relatable.
I'm actually one of the lucky few who actually somewhat enjoys their job, and the benefits are great. That being said, if I had the choice to wake up at 0630 or not, I wouldn't. I'm also concerned about my long term health in this industry. Heck, I've already had a few close calls this year.
I finished TFM and am about done with Unscripted . I was going to learn coding next, but a post here discouraged that. I was also going to spend the next few months reading, but I was discouraged from that as well. (This forum is helping me already! lol) So I've got a couple ideas I'm going to pursue, either pretty quick or once I furlough. I also have Fox's web design course in my sights as well, depending on how my other routes go.
Also, to everyone who's posted successes and failures, thank you very much. They have been very helpful.
