This video traces company brand value in $m over a 18 year period (2000 to 2018).

It is almost hypnotic. To see how dominate a traditional company like Coco-Cola was for so long then the internet arrives, matures and produces such a huge paradigm shift in such a short space of time.

Keep an eye out also for Nokia's demise as Apple starts to reach for the skies (2011) and Samsung gains it's footing (2012)

Apple grew by a staggering 129% in 2012 (compared to 58% on 2011 and 28% in 2013). For young, small companies doubling or tripling their value in 12 months is not necessarily that big a deal but a company that was founded in the 1970's?(and didn't discover a gold mine or oil well that year?)

Just wondering exactly what the driving force was. App store downloads didn't increase by an exponential margin and it doesn't look like anything groundbreaking was released. iPhone sales almost doubled in 2012, but they had been doing that since 2008 (but was the first time they broke the 100m mark).

The only thing that stands out is that Steve Jobs died October 2011.
