It has to do with duplicate content on your site. Google needs to know what page to display first in search results when multiple pages are similar. The "canonical" tag is how you can tell Google which of those similar pages you want to be the "primary" one.I can't find in which category I post this question So, I arise here. Can somebody tell me about a canonical issue?
What is this?
For example, let's say you have an ecom store with multiple pages for a single product. If those pages are all the same except for the color of the product, then Google will pick just one to display on the first page.
In other words, Google won't display all 10 of your pages for different colors of the same product and kick everyone else off of the front page of results. Instead, you get one spot, and someone else gets another spot, etc. for that product.
