My sister is starting a small brows, lashes and lips bar (eyebrow tatoos, lash extensions, lip tatoos etc.) and wants my input. These kind of beauty procedures are very popular in the UK now.

I've set up a Google place for her and have asked some of her clients to post reviews. She is now the listed at the top for her area when searching for a brow bar and has a nice number of reviews making her stand out from the competition.

I've set up her website but am struggling to think of what to offer as a lead magnet or a way of getting clients in the door other than a free consultation. Do you have any ideas that could get us more clients?

Any other general ideas about the business are also welcome. Thanks for your input!

I run a digital marketing agency that specialises in social media marketing

If she has the budget I recommend creating a Facebook business page and run a few ads with local targeting to people with the right interests

My process would be this:

- 2 engagement ads (aiming to get likes, comments and shares) with copy about the salon just being opened
- 1 traffic ad (to direct traffic to a landing page to claim an offer)

Run all three (I recommend a £5, £5 and £10 split per day - in that ordered - for around 2 weeks) and see how they performed then tweak them slightly for the next 2 weeks and see which ones performed better. This should cost around £500 for the month

Make the offer something irresistible - 30% off microblading (I think that’s tattoo’d eyebrows?) for example and after the customer has signed up for the offer, let them print or download a simple voucher (this can be done on ClickFunnels, not sure about other funnel platforms) then prompt them to call the salon to book their appointment. Ask for a deposit so you don’t get any no-shows

There’s so many ways to get business with social media and it’s so easy to track

Hopefully this helps and good luck to yo sister

I consult for a celebrity makeup artist on Instagram and one of the biggest trends on there is microblading and basically anything eyebrow related. @Chip01 offers some great advice with the ads, I'd definitely recommend doing those and also making sure they appear on Instagram as well as Facebook.

Influencer marketing is huge, but it doesn't mean you need to have a big budget or be targeting people with huge followings. Look and see if you can find local influencers in your area and offer them a free treatment / session. They don't need to be huge in numbers, if they've got 2k followers, but have a solid number of likes and comments and very beauty focused, it can work really well. Also take a look at what other local businesses are doing things on Instagram and see if you can partner up. You could for example ask a local hair salon to promote your sister's salon on their Instagram stories in return for her doing the same. It's also worth taking that tactic offline and asking local businesses if they have any leaflets you could have in the salon promoting them and whether they'd mind having some of yours. You could also work out deals - if they mention they come from X hair salon they get £5 off the treatment and vice versa.

Any advice for sole proprietors doing eyebrows. Issue is it’s completely time = money, but would be difficult to hire and train. As a lot of people who learn eyebrows typically end up being sole proprietors in the end. Btw, not asking for me.

They can’t take on any more work because they don’t have time. But they also can’t hire.

Best advice would probably be to build up to a level where they can open their own salon, I guess. Being a sole trader, like you said, is time = money so it’s limited. My gf works for a beauty salon and they’re closed every Sunday/Monday but on those days run courses for treatments. From there they can see who’s at a good level or who has potential and ask them if they’d like to apply for a job. That way, minimal training is needed and they can learn the rest on the job.

Would be hard to scale being a sole trader without hiring... or inventing a robot to do the work!!!!

that was my first thought, too!

in general , I thought about that niche, too.

lips enlargement is a big gold rush! You need some education and graduation to be allowed to do that, but you can earn real money!
