I don't disagree with what he's saying, although it's a bit of a straw man, imo. But the show still serves a purpose.

The kinds of people that go on there, would still work in their business rather than on it.

They'd be their own employees.

Shark Tank gives a few owners an outlet to make it "big" and take an early retirement at a 5, 10, or 20+ mil payday once they exit.

COULD they have bootstrapped it and made it a lifelong business that pays dividends while they relax on the beach, or pursue other hobbies and dreams?


Will they do it on their own?

Not likely.

I never got the vibe from the show that the only way to be successful is to take on debt and give away equity or royalty.

If you actually watch it, they pound into the ground, that you need cashflow.

I like the show. It gives people an opportunity to present their ideas and make it as businesses. Plus, ratings for the television network and it allows regular normal people to see entreprenuers.
