How could I monetize this idea on an existing App

There is an App that does exactly what I have in mind.
However it's content does not match the target market I think exists.


example:
So say, "To-Do List App" does exactly what I need (that is - prioritizes what I need done)
I would like to apply it to fixing cars (prioritizes what needs to be fixed in order)

These changes can be made to the existing app by simply plugging in a different background picture and making simple wording adjustments.

Edit:
I should stress, simply swapping out the existing App Photos with my ideal photos will enable the app to appeal and reach a completely different niche and market.

I've found / contacted the developer of the existing App I have in mind.
Should I be getting the App made again? How can I cut a deal with the app creator

attach local car maintenance stores to the to-do items with an alghoritm that recognizes tasks and products.

add an inventory system that keeps track of what you do, and automatically adds a to-do when you run out of material. Again sponsored by local stores.

With an app like this, people want to spend their money on their car, not the app itself. You can provide them free enjoyment, reach millions and guide them to the stores.
