About to do our first wordpress site (a directory of wineries, restaurants, and other fun stuff).

We plan on using Woo theme's City-guide:

City Guide Upgrades | WooThemes

Seems to be a perfect fit.

Anyone out there w/experience using it?

You just saved my time. I was looking for a Wordpress directory plugin, but none of them are fit very well.

Not sure if this theme support multiple cities or counties. I guess you have to set a central city name and location to start with and set category for each city or state. Or may be there is a way to use the same theme to setup multi-site wordpress.

I am planning to use the directory and dynamically load their promotion offers from my main site and reviews from third party site like Yelp, citysearch using custom plugin.

This could be a great extension of my project.

For Wordpress directory theme, go for DirectoryPress.

And you can find better quality themes at Theme Forest and Studio Forest.

I don't really like Woo Themes.

Just looked at DirectoryPress, and all of the designs look like a generic wordpress page-- where should I be looking for a design that is map-centric (ala google maps)?

For woo themes, no particular reason, just that it's not my taste
