Hi everyone!

I was looking at a way to invest my time and money and remembered years ago coming across Flippa and Empire Flippers.
Does anyone have any experience buying businesses from these platforms? If so, do you have any tips for a complete noob like me?

I sold a content site on EF in 2021; what do you want to know? I can answer some questions from the seller's perspective if you're interested

Google & the search function is at your fingertips with loads of people that have done what you're looking to do.

Have you read their blogs? They have a lot resources. Also read the blogs of their competitors (flippa, bizbuysell, quietlight).

Twitter also has a wealth people that have done this. Look up twitter SMB spaces.

I have experience with both (and many others). What would you like to know?

Especially for lower value transactions:

Assume every piece of data provided on the listing (traffic, sales, etc) is completely fabricated.

Then proceed with due diligence and valuing the asset accordingly.

Flippa was my $10k MBA in "Not everyone in the world is honest". A lesson that has served me well since.

Very curious about your 10K MBA. How did you get scammed, do you mind sharing?

I assumed the data provided on the listing (traffic, sales, etc) was true.

In reality... no sales. No traffic.

Also, assume everyone has a different reason for selling than what they put on the listing.

There are guaranteed skeletons in the closet and it's your job to find them.
