This was a video I stumbled upon. Unfortunately, part of the picture is blurred, but even back then, Musk bleeds drive and vision and a desire to create. Fresh off creating the software that enabled newspapers and journals to publish periodicals online, which he sold for $400,000,000 straight cash, he talks about a new idea he has in a space he knows nothing about: Banking.

His desire is to create an online banking system.

That company would become PayPal.

I love how, at every step, Musk hits the biggest, broadest needs. He didn't concern himself with the fact that these were industries he didn't know, he saw the potential, educated himself, and broke in.

A lot of people here (myself included) are making decent money from small-time ventures that meet a limited need, in part because it's working, but if we're honest, maybe a little bit because the big, humongous needs, are too risky or daunting. We're not in that industry. we don't know what it requires. We don't know if it's even possible.

Maybe we should think just a bit bigger.

I hope other people get as inspired by this as I did.

He is able to see where the world should be in 5 years and make it happen.

I can't, for the life of me, figure out how to do this. :)

Some day I might get tired of making these. But not today.

Also, has anybody in history more embodied the notion of "because I can" ?
