Aloha,

I am looking to develop an auto detailing business within the Island of Hawaii, but I have difficulty starting up due to competition,

Could anyone with experience in the auto detailing industry or those who have successfully navigated a similar competitive market share specific strategies or tactics that have proven effective in overcoming competition?

Please let me know, as this is a pretty big issue where I live,
Thank You

In the US Civil War, Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest described his consistent winning strategy as, “Get there fustest with the mostest”. In a crowded market you will have to be an innovator and devise new ways to obtain customers and provide additional value. Is it feasible to clean windshields of expensive parked cars and leave a flyer advertising full service? Or maybe set up a mobile system and clean cars while their owners are at work. Put your mind to work and don’t be afraid to try different things.

Route to Market - You can decide only to deal with Trade Customers OR only Consumers

Price - You can be premium, average or economy price.

Operations - You can compete on speed or by offering on-site services.

Attribute Dependent - You can only deal with premium marques like Lexus, BMW, Mercedes, Audi or Range Rover

Partnering - You can specialise in partnering with garages that deal with used cars for re-sale.

You need to specify the problems that you are facing due to competition.

Without the proper input from your side, you're only asking people to "guess" your problems and then "guess" a solution.

Do you know/understand your customer?

Do you understand your competition?

Are you skilled at auto detailing or are you going to be dependent on someone else?
